"The show" in question was the The Federation of Historical Bottle Collectors EXPO 2003, held June 28 and 29 at the convention center in Louisville, KY. It was a bottle show, but as many of you know, bottle shows are fertile hunting grounds for the shot-besotted. A group of us had informally agreed to converge on Louisville to see the sights and pick up a few nice glasses. | |
Membership to the FOHBC and $20 gained us early admission to
the show during dealer set-up. Set-up began at 1.00 pm of Saturday
and was a prized opportunity to pick up glasses before general
admission.
Here's the scene while we were waiting for the doors to open to allow both dealers and collectors to enter the room - that's "junkmoney" (Bill Armstrong) on the left and your narrator "oldwhiskey" (Robin Preston) on the right. Obviously I was praying for glass nirvana. |

Once the doors opened, dealers began setting up
their tables.
This is a view from the front of the hall - there were spaces for around 250 dealers. The seated person at the front of this photo is Ralph Van Brocklin ("the genuine"), president of the FOHBC. He pulled a few nice "Victor Liver Syrup" shots out of his boxes as I recall. |
