The Willow Creek Distillery |
The Willow Creek Distillery was located on 28 th & Broadway alongside the Sunny Brook Distillery (RD #297). The two distilleries shared warehouses and were both owned by Rosenfield Bros. & Co. of Chicago during a part of working lives. Insurance underwriter records compiled in 1892 suggest that the distillery was of iron-clad with a metal or slate roof. The property included four warehouses: Warehouse No. 1 -- iron-clad, located 325 ft south of the still. Warehouse No. 2 -- frame with a shingle roof, located 35 ft north of the still Warehouse No. 3 -- iron-clad, located 550 ft south of the still. Part of the warehouse was also known as Warehouse No. 5 of the adjoining Sunny Brook Distillery. Warehouse No. 4 -- brick with a metal or slate roof, located 500 ft south of the still. There were also cattle on the property, housed in a shed 40 ft east of the still. At that time, it was being operated by D Meschendorf, Proprietor, "late Rosenfield Bros. Sunny Brook Dist'g Co".
