The Glenarme Distillery
RD #9, 7 th District
Woodford County, KY

1882: The Glenarme Distillery was established by Thomas S Edwards (Coyte papers, cited in OASG).

1884: M J Haden, Proprietor.

By 1892, the distillery had become a part of Woodford Distilling Co. headed by S J Greenbaum.

Insurance underwriter records compiled in 1892 suggest that the distillery was of brick construction with a metal or slate roof. The property included cattle pens 425 ft north of the still, and five warehouses:
Warehouse A -- iron-clad with a metal or slate roof, located 140 ft east of the still.
Warehouse B -- an iron-clad free warehouse with a metal or slate roof, located 275 ft north of the still.
Warehouse C -- iron-clad with a metal or slate roof, located 150 ft north of the still. Warehouses B and C were both heated by a boiler 50 ft west.
Warehouse D -- iron-clad with a metal or slate roof, located 175 ft NE of the still.
Warehouse E -- a free warehouse adjoining the office. It was frame and located 40 ft south of the still.

The still was being operated by S J Greenbaum.

Cecil (1999) suggests that the orgins of the distillery were much earlier and notes that it became the Belle of Anderson distillery in 1912 (Morris S Greenbaum et al.). After the company went bust in 1915, it re-rorganized as the Midway Distilling Co., with Louis Fleckheimer as President and Daniel Weiskopf as Distiller and Manager. Fire destroyed the distillery in 1925.
