T. B. RIPY DISTILLERIES |
T. B. Ripy Distilleries (RD #112 and RD #418, 8th Dist.) Thomas B. Ripy began making whiskey in 1869 in Tyrone, KY. He died in 1902 and his two distilleries became part of the Kentucky Distilleries and Warehouse Company (KD&W Co., an arm of the Whiskey Trust) with George A. McGrann, formerly supt. of Melwood, in charge of operations. Meanwhile, Ripy sons Ezra, Ernest, Forest and Robert opened another distillery nearby and operated it under the name "Ripy Bros." until Prohibition. See the respective distillery listings for more details.
