The business address listed above was provided by a great-granddaughter or grandson of A P Ward.
The "Black Diamond" brand was also used by J & A Freiberg of Cincinnati, and there was also a "Black Diamond Distillers" based in Dubois, PA. The latter may be related to the present company, but a letterhead dated 1900 shows "Black Diamond" to be the proprietory brand of a Brennan and Ward - presumably the same company. Note that "Black Diamond" is a synonym for anthracite coal, a fuel for which Wilkes-Barre is famous.
The company used the brand names: "Black Diamond Whiskey", and "Pocono." | | Business name timeline: A.P. Ward & Co.
