A clear glass flask in a cardboard package that still contains "Dougherty's Sons Pure Rye Whiskey", from J A Dougherty Son's of Philadelphia, PA. The neck label notes that it is 13 summers old. The bottle has a capacity of one pint and measures 8-3/4" tall, 4" wide, and 2" deep.
The labels at front and on the reverse show that it was actually distilled by A Overholt & Co. (RD #3, 23rd District of PA) and then sent to the Dougherty Distillery Warehouse Co. Inc., a concentration warehouse in Philadelphia, for bottling. The rear also identifies the contents as having been made prior to January 17, 1920 and as "Rx Spiritus Frumenti, 100 proof", or medicinal whiskey for sale by prescription only.
