Thomas (WBW, p. 68) shows a flask and mini decanter from this hotel and provides a history. He notes that it opened its doors in 1907 with John McDermott as manager. McDermott had previously managed the Palace and St. Francis hotels in San Francisco.

The Savoy was a fire-proofed marvel, consisting of 12 stories of steel, concrete and marble overlooking the sea. Although the main entrance was at 1212 2 nd Ave, there was a cafe at 1216 and a bar at 1214 2 nd Ave.

Apparently the hotel fell by the wayside as the city center migrated north (OASG).
