OASG has a history for Hughes Bros: In 1872 J J Hughes built the distillery a few miles west of Schellsburg (now Camp Living Water). His son Patrick took over the business around 1879 and was later joined by brother Frank. Tavern keepers would drive to the distillery in wagons and haul back whiskey to their establishments. Hughes Bros. also owned a warehouse in Bedford from which barrels were sent to more distant areas. Phil Hughes maintained a tavern on Rte 30 between Bedford & Schellburg until the end of WWI.

Brand names used by this company include: "Belle of Bedford."
