The great-grandaughter of Johnston relates that "his full name was Emmet R. Johnston and his business partner was Jno. Carmichael. During prohibition, they shut down the business and headed off to Cuba. They returned to Pittsburgh until my grandfather enlisted in the Marines, then they moved to Los Angeles, and eventually to Ramona, San Diego County, Ca., where Emmet became a territorial liquor salesman until his death in the 50's" (information courtesy of Kim Johnston, 2009).
