John Rasch Co. listed from 1914-1919.
John Rasch was my uncle (my mother's brother). He served the fine hotels in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Prohibition put him out of business, but he nurtured his money, fully intending to reopen John Rasch Fine Wines and Liquors after Repeal.
In 1929 he received a phone call from his broker - he had been wiped in the stock-market crash. He had a stroke and was never the same.
He lived with my mother and me. I was born 1912. As a young boy, my fondest dream was riding in the "everyday" car; an Auburn with wood spokes and steering wheel. The Lincoln with headlights on the front fenders was reserved for special occasions.
He was fine a gentleman and always wore a stiff white collar, which was difficult for me button after he had the stroke.
