SYRIA / TO CLEVELAND / 1896 (first line is etched in tsp letters on the hind quarters of a camel. The animal is running full-tilt from right to left, and is being ridden by a man with a braided staff).

The obverse of the glass bears a familiar scimitar-and-hanging-crescent symbol of the Shriners. The scimitar is etched SYRIA TEMPLE, the crescent with a tsp PITTSBURGH PENNA. Hanging below the crescent is a square building with the words FORT PITT, 1764 reverse arched below.
