According to OASG, August Freese came to the US in 1881 with his wife from Germany and opened a grocery store/ By 1885, Kel and Freese has a grocery and a saloon, in 1889 there is another grocery/saloon under the name Freese & Fehling, and in 1895 August Freese was listed as a wine & liquor dealer. Freese and Gale were listed as liquor wholesalers from 1898-1917.
