The Melky Miller Distillery

The distillery was established sometime around 1875 near Accident, MD on a tributary of South Branch Bear Creek. It was established by Melchoir Mueller (later known as Melky Miller).

1897: The MD State Tax Commissioner reports that the taxable value of distilled spirits for this year was $2,680. The distillery was owned by M J Miller.

1902: Melky sold the distillery to his sons, William, John and Charles. The sons maintained a wholesale and retail outlet in Westernport, MD.

1905: The MD State Tax Commissioner reports that the taxable value of distilled spirits for this year was $3,432. The distillery was now owned by M J Miller's Sons.

1907: The MD State Tax Commissioner reports that the taxable value of distilled spirits for this year was $4,788. The distillery was being operated by M J Miller's Sons.

1909: The MD State Tax Commissioner reports that the taxable value of distilled spirits for this year was $6,128. The distillery was still being operated by M J Miller's Sons.

The distillery closed with Prohibition and it was not reopened.
