The McKeekin Distillery |
Insurance underwriter records compiled in 1892 suggest that the distillery was frame with a metal or slate roof and with an adjoining boiler-house. The property included a single bonded warehouse, also of frame construction with a metal or slate roof, 150 ft distant from the still. At that time, it was owned by W M McKeekin. Note that there is an inconsistency between insurance and IRS records, because by 1901, RD #110 of the 5 th was in Gethsemane, Nelson Co., and F M Head was making withdrawals from an associated warehouse. |
