The Cumberland Distillery |
The distillery was built in 1879 alongside the Rolling Fork distillery. The orginal owners were J B Wathen, R N Wathen, H Mueller and Charles Kobert. Insurance underwriter records compiled in 1892 suggest that the distillery was of frame construction. The property included two warehouses: Bonded warehouse -- iron-clad with a metal or slate roof and located 280 ft east of the still. Free warehouse -- iron clad, 300 ft east of the still. At the time, it was being operated by Chas Kobert & Co. |
