1879: Cecil (1999) notes that the distillery was owned by Whitehead & Co. 1880: The distillery was purchased by Andrew W Darling, who established the "Old Darling" brand. 1882, March 8: The distillery was sold to Elias Block & Sons (Supreme Court records, 5/11/1891). 1892: Insurance underwriter records which were updated in 1895 suggest that the distillery was built of brick and had a metal or slate roof. The grounds were extensive, with a barrel house adjoining Warehouses A & B, an Engine and Boiler House, an iron-clad grain elevator, and frame cattle pens 26 ft south of the still. Eight different warehouses are listed: Warehouse No. 1, or A -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 115 ft north of the still Free Warehouse B -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 26 ft north of the still. This was a new warehouse adjoining A Free Warehouse C -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 46 ft north of the still Free Warehouse E -- frame construction with a metal or slate roof, 120 ft west of the still Warehouse F -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 250 ft west of the still Warehouse G -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 190 ft NW of the still Warehouse H -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 230 ft NW of the still Warehouse J -- brick with a metal or slate roof, 70 ft NW of the still The insurance records show that it was still being operated by Elias Block & Sons. 1908: Sold to the Trust, with Thomas D Murray at the helm (Cecil identifies the proprietor as "Thomas D Murphy").
