According to Thomas (WBW, p. 35) this wholesale liquor house was established by Rafael Sartori. Originally located on Front Street, he moved to James St. around 1894 and added a second outlet on Yelser Way.
Sartori sold out to Samuel Hyde around 1904, who operated it until state Prohibition. Thomas quotes an ad from 1905 that reads "importer and wholesale dealer in high-grade wines and liquors". When the business closed in 1915, it had a net worth of $125,000 - $200,000.
