Est. 1856. PO&N: Established in 1856 by Emanuel Rice, then became Rice & Becherer, and in 1889 Conrad Becherer & Co. Henry J Fritz, a Philadelphia native, was made a partner in 1889 and took over the business in 1893 when Becherer died. Fritz kept the old name.
