The city directories are filled with McGlinns in the liquor business, so untangling the relationships among them is difficult, even with the availability of home address information.
John McGlinn is listed as Treasurer of Boyle & McGlinn in 1895, as Secretary in 1900, and President of John McGlinn & Co. by 1905. He clearly had his fingers in many other pies also. The 1905 directory lists him as VP of Continental Title and Trust Co., but by 1910 he's John McGlinn as president of the Philadelphia Brewing Co., McGlinn Distilling Co., Baltimore Distilling Co., Fairhill Coal & Ice Co., VP of Continental Title and Trust Co and Treas. of Catholic Standard & Fimes Publishing Co.
The 1919/1920 directory shows the officers of the John J McGlinn Distilling Co. as being: William J McGlinn, Pres., John, VP., Jas. J. Dougherty, Treas, and Chas R. Haig, Sec.
In 1925, John J McGlinn is still in evidence, now Pres. of the Continental Equitable Title & Trust Co., the Philadelphia Brewing Co., and Fairhill Ice Co.
