Using address information from bottles and jugs, Thomas, WBO (p. 44) identifies this as the Royal Liquor Store.
Thomas suggests that Richard Knoll was the first owner, from 1897 to 1903. Thomas suggests he then sold out to a Charles Zizelman but bought the business back again in 1905. Knoll is then suggested to have sold out to the Caswells in 1909 who, in turn, sold out to Julius P Levy the following year. Levy closed it down in 1913. Business name timeline: Caswell Bros.

notes: W = Liquors, wholesale, W-R = Liquors, Retail. D = distillers. Directory copies include saloons for most years: they have not been included in the database. 1865: copy quality is poor and transciption mistakes are likely. 1883: no addresses. Some of the listings were researched in person in the Portland central library (5/2006).
