Portland directory notes:
W = Liquors, wholesale, W-R = Liquors, Retail. D = distillers. Directory copies include saloons for most years: they have not been included in the database. 1865: copy quality is poor and transciption mistakes are likely. 1883: no addresses. Some of the listings were researched in person in the Portland central library (5/2006).
