"....are perhaps the most extensive dealers in this city. They are rectifiers and distillers, and keep large lots of whiskies, brandies, ales, &c, on hand. Their trade is very extensive. Their facilities for furnishing liquors are unsurpassed by any house in this city. Their imported wines and brandies are enjoying fine reputation among those who use the ardent" (1871 city directory).
