The Peacock Distillery
RD #10, 7 th District
Bourbon County, KY

(Est. 1857)

The Peacock was located 1/2-mile east of Kiserton on the KY Central RR. The following timeline comes from Cecil (1999: p. 57)

1857: The distillery was built by H C Bowen.

1869: Bowen's son assumed control.

1890: The distillery was sold to parties in Cincinnati: presumably this was the Peacock Distillery Co. found in city directories.

1892: Insurance underwriter records suggest that the distillery was built of stone with a metal or slate roof. The property included an iron-clad boiler house 10 ft from the still, and a cattle barn. There were two warehouses:
Warehouse A -- iron-clad located 600 ft north of the still. Part of this warehouse was Free.
Warehouse B -- iron-clad and located 500 ft north of the still.

At that time, it was being operated by the Peacock Distilling Co., also as the Standard Distilling Co.

1902: The distillery was sold to the Trust.

1905: KD&W -- an arm of the Trust -- installed two new boilers and roller mills.

1911: The distillery was acquired by the H E Pogue distillery.

1916: The plant was scrapped.
