The S P Lancaster Distillery |
The original distillery was built by Sam P Lancaster and J Matt Lancaster on their farm, but operations were moved in 1881 to a site on the L & N Railroad, 2 miles NW of Bardstown Cecil, 1999). Insurance underwriter records compiled in 1892 suggest that the new distillery was of frame construction with a metal or slate roof. The property included a cattle shed and two warehouses: Warehouse A. 1 -- iron-clad and located 150 ft NE of the still. The north end of the warehouse was Free. Warehouse B. 2 -- iron-clad and located 100 ft east. Part ofo this warehouse was Free also. At that time, it was being operated by S P Lancaster & Co.
