The Marion County Distillery
RD #372, 5 th District
Jefferson County, KY

1866: The distillery was built by J G Mattingly. It was located at 3105 Rudd Ave in Louisville.

1887: On December 7, the plant was sold to Wm Patterson. By the end of the following year, he was producing 5,000 barrels per annum.

1892: Insurance underwriter records note that the distillery was built of brick. The property included four warehouses, all brick with metal or slate roofs:
Warehouse A -- located 60 ft west of the still.
Warehouse B -- 160 ft NW
A Free Warehouse -- located 115 ft north of the still. The warehouse was a part of Warehouse A.
Warehouse D -- 80 ft west.
There was also a cattle shed, and a six-storey aging room adjoining the cistern room and Warehouse A.

At the time, the plant was still being run as Marion County Distilling Co., but also as Wm Patterson Jr and two other companies (see below).

1905: The plant was acquired by the Trust, who operated it until Prohibition. It was razed in 1924 (history from Cecil, 1999).
