1855: the distillery was established by Jeff Frazier (Cecil, 1999). Insurance underwriter records compiled in 1892 suggest that the distillery was of frame construction with a metal or slate roof. The property included cattle pens adjoining the distillery and three warehouses: Warehouse A -- iron-clad with a metal or slate roof, located 100 ft east of the still. Warehouse B -- frame with a shingle roof, located 40 ft north of the still. Warehouse C -- frame with a shingle roof, located 480 ft north of the still. This was a free warehouse. In 1892, the still was was being operated by W J Frazier. 1907: The distillery was sold to O J Carpenter of Lexington. 1908: The distillery was destroyed by fire but was rebuilt. |
